For quite some time now, I have been an active blog reader. I've enjoyed reading daily blog updates of countless strangers and friends, and always wanted to start my own, but just never really jumped into it. Well, now is the time! There are a couple things that held me back from beginning a blog:
#1. I was extremely stressed out about what to call my blog! I'm not completely sold on the current title, but I'm going to go with it for the sake of getting started and I can always change it later (or at least I think I have that option!)
#2. I assumed no one would actually read it. This is probably a completely accurate assumption. It's ok with me though, because it might be kind of intimidating if I knew that everyone I know (and probably some strangers) were reading this. I figure if I assume no one is reading, I won't stress about what I write.... I'll just write!
But, despite my hesitation, here it is! My blog :)
I suppose we'll start with the basics. I am a 22 (until tomorrow!) year old who graduated college 11 months ago. I cannot even begin to describe how much I loved college! I would probably need several posts to tell you about all of my wonderful friends, amazing organizations I was involved in and the absolutely ridiculous stories I've racked up over four years. I wouldn't have traded that time in my life for anything!
A problem I've run into though, is that when you absolutely adore college, your life becomes a sort of utopian existence where you have complete independence, are free from most "grown up" responsibilities and even though you have classes, internships and other obligations, your life is still largely focused around socialization and fun. Which makes for an incredible phase of life... until that phase ends. Then you are thrown off the cruise ship into the ocean of "the real world" with only a life preserver to keep you afloat... at least that's how I feel sometimes!
I've spent the past year acclimating myself to "the real world" and there has been a lot of good things about it, but also a fair amount of things that I would rather not have had to experience. But I know it is all a part of God's plan for my life, and that he uses, everything, the good and bad, for my good. The unknowns of "the real world" can be really scary sometimes, but I also think it's kind of fun knowing that I have my entire adult life ahead of me! Anything can happen, and I am excited to walk through the days, weeks, months and years ahead!
Up until recently, I have been working for my mom's company. It was nice having that job right out of school, but it didn't take me long to realize that it just wasn't what I wanted to do with my life. So, I'm currently in the process of transitioning into a job that is in my field of study. My degree is in communications and advertising, so I decided it was about time I started using it. It's amazing the way God has provided opportunities for me, just over the past month or so. I spent so much time praying for a new job, and God has really showed himself to be faithful in that area. Right now, I have a job offer in the marketing department at a really good company here in town. Last week, I interviewed for another marketing job, but the company is in a different city. I'm waiting until I hear back from this company in another city to make a decision about the job here. I may end up with two offers and a difficult decision to make, or I may end up with just this one offer, and the decision will be easy. I'm hoping to know more by tomorrow. Updates to follow!
